Falcons Bio/History


The Atlanta Falcons are a professional football NFL team in the NFC South. The Atlanta Falcons became a franchise in 1965. They have been in division championships in 1980, 1998, 2004, 2010, and 2012. They have only been to one Super Bowl – Super Bowl XXXIII in 1999 – where they lost to the Denver Broncos by a score of 34-19.  The Atlanta Falcons play in the Georgia Dome, which is the world’s largest cable-supported dome. They began construction on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2014, and it is set to be done in 2017 with a price tag at 1.4 billion dollars. The new stadium will host the world’s largest and first video board, which is 360 degrees around the stadium. The stadium will be state of the art. The Atlanta Falcons also announced a new head coach, Dan Quinn, in 2015. The owner of the Atlanta Falcons is Arthur Blank, and he bought the team in February 2002.
