The Atlanta Dream is a Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team that plays in the eastern conference. The Dreams home court is the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. They are managed by Angela Taylor and coached by Michael Cooper. There were plans to put a women’s professional basketball team in Atlanta since 1955, yet the dream was not completed until 2007. Marynell Meadors was named the first head coach of the franchise in November of 2007. The team’s name, the Dream, was coined from Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech. The dream currently has three conference titles, 2010, 2011, and 2013.
