On Tuesday evening the Atlanta Dream continued on their road trip to Seattle after coming off a loss to the San Antonio Silver Stars. Atlanta could not pull off the win yet again last night, losing a close one 81-84. The Dream had two starters out for the night, Tiffany Hayes & Sancho Lyttle both with hamstring injuries as well as a player short, Markeisha Gatling Atlanta’s new pickup who was not able to play because of the sudden trade. With 3 short, Atlanta’s bench had to take it up a notch & contribute to getting a win to end the tough losing streak. Rookie, Bria Holmes stepped up to the challenge & had a career high of 15 points. Matee Ajavon also stepped up & finished with 10 points & 5 rebounds, she gave a lot of energy for the Dream on defense. Starters, Angel McCoughtry finished with 22 points & 7 rebounds & Elizabeth Williams finished with 21 points & 8 rebounds. But that didn’t stop the Seattle rookie & former UConn Husky, Breanna Stewart she was quite a nuisance for Atlanta, finishing with a ravishing 38 points & 6 rebounds. Stewart was unstoppable in the paint as well as outside the perimeter. The Dream had a hard time pulling through to get the win at the final seconds of the game. They shot 47.9% from the field & turned the ball over 12 times. Overall, Atlanta had a phenomenal game they were physical with the Storm never letting up, they even outrebounded Seattle 37-27, but it just wasn’t enough. Atlanta hopes to turn around the 0-4 losing streak tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 pm EST as they take on the 14-1 LA Sparks at the Staples Center.
