According to Adam McCalvy, the Atlanta Braves have acquired former 2011 first round pitcher Jed Bradley from the Brewers in exchange for cash or a player to be named later. He is a native of Huntsville, Alabama, and played college ball at Georgia Tech.
Bradley, a 25-year-old southpaw, was expected to rise quickly through the Brewers organization, but has struggled mightily so far. He was converted from a starter to a relief pitcher in hopes of getting him back on track. That hasn’t worked out so well for the Brewers as he was bumped back to AA this season. He has posted a 6.20 ERA and a 4.00 FIP.
This trade is likely just about adding organizational depth as we’ve seen the Braves do in the last two years. If Bradley could get back on track, then he could potentially be a substantial middle reliever.
