Freeman Goes Yard Twice in Braves’ 7-1 Rout of Phillies

On Friday, the Atlanta Braves notched their 11th win of the season in a 7-1 victory over the Phillies in Philadelphia.  Braves starter Matt Wisler won his second game of the year, only allowing one run and two walks with seven strikeouts in his 6 2/3 innings pitched.  Wisler is now the only Atlanta pitcher who has won more than one game this season.

Phillies starter Aaron Nola gave up a pair of 2-run homers, along with seven hits and two walks over his seven innings pitched.  Freddie Freeman launched a 2-run moonshot into the right field bleachers in the 3rd inning which gave the Braves an early 2-1 lead.  After a Gordon Beckham RBI single, Nick Markakis hit a 2-run opposite-field blast in the 7th inning which gave the Braves a 5-1 lead.

In the 9th inning, Freddie Freeman hit another 2-run homer, this one being an opposite-field shot.  That gave the Braves a 7-1 lead, and they would go on to win by that score.

Game MVP: Freddie Freeman – 2 HRs, 4 RBIs
