Atlanta United has announced that they will build a $60 million training complex in Marietta. The complex includes a 30,000-square foot building, a youth academy, and six fields. Construction is set to begin next April. The announcement of the training complex is among a variety of moves that the club has announced in the past month. With the start of the 2017 season getting closer and closer, the club is becoming increasingly pressed to complete its internal infrastructure. However, Atlanta United has made a great amount of progress on its inner development compared to past MLS clubs. The completion of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the new training facility will likely allow the club to have a full home schedule (a commodity that many teams have not been able to enjoy in their inaugural season). Although this announcement may seem relatively minor to some fans, it will prove to be extremely valuable in the future. It is clear that Arthur Blank and Darren Eales are doing all they can to set Atlanta United up for a successful first season. The new training facility, with its world-class accommodations, will help tremendously in this effort. Indeed, this facility is a huge step in the fabrication of Atlanta United.
What if your opinion on the new training facility? How much do you think it will help in the development of the club? Please leave your thoughts in the comments section!
