UGA QB Jacob Eason Report

imageThe true freshman and early enrolle Jacob Eason started spring practice around two weeks ago and is still working to move up the depth chart. The 6’5 and 208 pound kid from Lake Stevens, Washington who 5 months ago was the top rated pocket-passer in the nation and a Gatorade national player of the year. That now starts with the third string group behind Brice Ramsey and Greyson Lambert on the depth chart. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Reportedly he has impressed the coaching staff on what he has done with the 2nd and 3rd offenses. He has shown tremendous arm strength throughout this camp. Head coach Kirby Smart said he had a strong outing in the spring scrimmage even though he was with the the backup groups. While Greyson Lambert and Brice Ramsey shared first team reps known as a 50/50 clip according to Kirby Smart.

It was the true freshmans first start in Sanford Stadium in live action and this is what Head coach Kirby had to say about it “It was his first chance to go in a live situation,” Smart said. “He was a little nervous early. But as he progressed, he did some good things. He made some throws.” Jacob made some explosive plays with fellow early enrolle Riley Ridley and returning WR Shaquery Wilson. Giving them good deep ball throws.

Jacob Eason was mostly with the third team but also ran with the second team practicing two minute drills and third down situations. It is still unknown if he will practice with the ones. Their are only 5 spring practices left until the “G” Day Spring game on April 16th at 4pm. He will most likely have a chance to not only to practice with the first team but also have the starting job by the beginning of the 2016 season.

Everyone who attends the spring game in 11 days will be watching the young quarterback from the west coast and see how he does in his time in a University Of Georgia uniform. Also to see how he controls the huddle witch is a big thing with new head coach Kirby Smart. It will be a interesting next 5 months till UGA plays North Carolina in the Georgia Dome.
