A Look Back on Opening Day

The Atlanta Braves took the field yesterday for the first time this season. And their performance was a lackluster to say the least. Yes, they came very close to winning, but it was not a very solid performance for the Braves. teheran_1280_qrmjicfp_necjwnb1

The Good:

Julio Tehran looked like the pitcher he was in the 2014 season as he struck out 4 in 6 innings and only allowing 2 runs. Our bullpen also shined as Daniel Winkler and Arodys Vizcaino pitched perfect innings, with Winkler punching out all 3 of his batters. Another plus for the Braves was their power. Both Freddie Freeman and Adonis Garcia connected with the long ball yesterday, giving the Braves a chance at winning.

The Bad and The Ugly:

Speaking from a fundamental standpoint, the Braves had an awful game. Gordon Beckham made a costly error in the top of the 10th to give the Nationals the lead. They also were unable to string together hits and ended up leaving a total of 10 men on base. A majority of their runs came off of homeruns, and unless Atlanta is now a power team, don’t expect a whole bunch of runs.
